Congrats So Suzy Stamps!

Hi guys,

Wanted to share with you a card I made for the June challenge at So Suzy Stamps. She just recently opened the brick and mortar store! You go!! So, in honor of the grand opening,  the challenge is  to create a congratulations card. I don't have a congrats stamp from her line, but I do have a celebration phrase and an ice cream cone - yumm - so, I used those inside. I inked the ice cream cone up with my Copics ad added a bit of Wink of Stella to make it more fun. With a scoop of mint chocolate chip on top and strawberry on the bottom.

So, there you have it. My little unconventional Congrats card for the grand opening celebrations, wish I could've been there for all the fun!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stuck on You...

It's challenge time again! Our new Cut It Up proposal for you is to create a project using a die cut and a sticker(s). What fun is that?  Our gracious sponsor for this challenge is, a favorite of mine if I must say) The Robin's Nest! See how I did that?! lol Plenty of Goodies to pick from with a wonderful $20.00 Gift Certificate. You will win a $30.00 Gift Certificate if Robin's Nest products are used!

Since I recently unpacked an old, but beautiful, Anna Griffin project kit I decided to create a card using pieces from this great set.  The pattern paper, photo corners, rose sticker, card stock and ribbon are all from the kit.  Then I added a little rhinestone and this wonderful flourish die cut from my Cricut library.

Now, head on over to Cut It Up to see all the details for this challenge then enter your project into our linky for the chance to win a great prize The Robin's Nest and our challenge blog badge. Hope to see you there!

'Tis The Season

Yep - it's coming quickly, better get ready now! =) I know I always have great intentions of having all my Christmas cards made, signed, addressed and ready to go into the mailbox the day after Thanksgiving. It just so happens I can help you with that. Check this out: 'Tis The Season. It a great little card challenge blog focused with only Christmas cards (projects!) I adore a great challenge and will more motivated trying to meet the challenge than left to my own devices. Sad huh?

I'd been playing along with them for only a short while when they opened the blog for new DT members. I figured since I was already enjoying playing along with the challenges I might as well toss my hat into the ring. And now I'm a very tickled member of the  'Tis The Season Design team. :big huge grin:

The challenges run for two weeks at a time. The challenge details will post on Thursdays and close two Tuesday's later. That following day (Wednesday's) Holly will post the winner and the next challenge will start the next day (Thursday.) Easy Peasy and so much fun!

Here's the challenge fort eh next two weeks: Navy, sand and concord! Wonderful rich colors for a Christmas card!

The card I used for the actual challenge is this one:

I decided to give my Cricut some action this week. I'm still getting use to it. The stocking have three layers, concord on the bottom. It's hard to see here, but in person it sure does pop! The sentiment is from the Lawn Fawn Joy to the Woods (love this set!) I added two of my home baked "enamel" dots.

I then decided to make this cute little guy, a very CAS type gift card. This cute card  may be small (only 4.25 x 4.25),  but it holds a big gift! It's a gift card holder.

It was super easy to create, the inside has fold up angled flap I glued down to hold the gift card. And I mounted the little brown flap card onto a grape colored layer. The cardstock and ribbon are retired SU and the stamped image is Inkadinkadoo. Love the vintage feel!

Watch here for the next challenge, I've already created a cute set of cards!  Okay, it's your turn! Get a start on all you holiday cards and toss your card into the mix for the fun! I hope to see you at 'Tis The Season!

Animals in Hats

Hello my friends!

Hubby left town for a race. Since I was feeling way better, Wildman and I ran a few errands today. Once I got home, I tried to settle in to create a card for another holiday challenge! Yeppie! Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge - Merry Monday Christmas Challenge. I love making holiday cards!

I used the Lawn Fawn Party Animal set for the cuties and the Santa hat (love it) is from a 1995 SU set called Button Bear. This hat is the perfect size, I use it all the time! All the paper is SU as well. For such a simple card, I struggled with "mhay" mojo! I think it's cuz I ran errands and it's kinda hard for me to really settle down. But, here they are. I couldn't decide if I should've put a sentiment on the front or not - so I put one inside the card. Hopefully tomorrow my mojo will have returned. Hope to see you soon.

I counted and I'm behind!

Happy Monday you guys!

Feeling a little holiday 'round here today! Back to some "Me" challenge time. Ya'll know how I love me some challenges!! I counted my holiday cards the other day and I am low! The most we've ever mailed was 65, the least was 42. I have only 27. Doing the math and I know I need a few more. =)

I was only able to finish 2 cards today though. =( Maybe tomorrow I can complete a few more. I hope. I found some more great Christmas card challenges like ABC Christmas Challenges. They wanted us to use a Christmas song as our inspiration. So, I thought I'd use We Wish You  A Merry Christmas as it matched the retired SU sentiment stamp. The papers are from a bunch of different companies. The charm is a pewter charm from my jewelry making stuff.

My 2nd card is for Muse ChristmasVisions - a picture was giving as inspiration. The picture was a beautiful card with blues and whites. So I decided to use more of my favs: Lawn Fawn stamps to create this card. The pattern paper is retired SU. I used LF Party Animal set for the deer, the Santa hat is from an old SU set and the sentiment is from another LF set Joy to the Woods. I soooo love Lawn Fawn!

So, come by tomorrow night and I will post a few more Christmas cards. =)

Happy Anniversary & Father's Day!

Been married to my hubby for 12 years (yesterday.) We had a great day and a wonderful dinner. He cranked up the Green Egg and we had the most yummy steaks. Mmmm! Today we are going to have ribs on the Egg. I love cooking out...

OH YEAH - yesterday hubby came home with a big bag from Hobby Lobby. =) He handed it to me and said Happy Anniversary! Up till this year he's always been away for our anniversary. So, this is what he picked out all by him little self...

I think he did a great job! I love all of it. He laughed and said he was there for an hour! I laughed and said NOW you understand! He said he saw so much he wanted to get me. Awww.

So, I had a bit of time to create a card yesterday. I enjoy making Christmas cards and put this together. It' was a card challenge at Merry Monday Christmas Challenge. Here's the challenge inspiration:

Ahhh, I love the holidays! When I took this pic, the paper didn't photo well. The ribbon and paper are the same color. I also embossed the white cardstock with the snowflake embossing folder and that's hard to see too. I used a SU die to make the bordered white "belly band".  And I made the banner edge using my envelope punch board.

Gonna go and make some more cards and a pound cake for hubby today. Yummy.

Time for me to share my 1st post for the challenges with Kitty Bee Designs!! Our new Aloha Friday Challenge starts today and runs thru July 2. In order to have a chance to win the great prize from A Random Fan, you will need to create a card using our theme of "birthday".

I colored her with my Copics then cut her out with my stitched rectangle dies. My card base is Simon Says Stamp navy blue, the pattern paper is from the Crate Paper 6x6 Farmhouse pad. My sentiment is from a retired SU set and punched using SU punches. I fussy cut the puppy and gift packages and popped them up using foam tape. I added some Wink of Stella for a bit of sparkle.

My hot dogs...

Decided today to actually make a card for myself, as a participant in a challenge! It's been a bit, I've been making challenge cards (lots of them) but as a DT. So, I'm ahead of my due dates and I thought I'd play along...

A very different take on stars and stripes. I have this in mind and as I was creating my baby girl (my 1st born and only girl) called and she's having a rough day - thought I'd try to change it up as not so much a patriotic card, but a little "hi" to send to her. Eh, it looked better in my head - lol. I'll still put it for the lawnscaping challenge. Then I'll pop it in the mail. The cute image is from the Lawn Fawn Critters in the Sea set.

My last card for today is card for my Christmas Class. I wasn't really in love with it and almost didn't finish it, but when hubby says he thought it was good, I went ahead and glued it all down. :sigh:

Ya know, if every pork chop were perfect, we wouldn't have hot dogs!
I suppose these are my hot dogs.

One more "share-sies" before I go and do "mhay" chores. I have 4 tables around me in my little craft area. Actually, there's one right behind me & one directly beside me. So, where does my Charlie feel he MUST lay??

Ah yes - the joys of being the animal whisperer! ALL of our pets follow me around... drives hubby mad cuz he just wants somebody to love him better! LOL

One more for the road...

Trying hard to get caught up with my Christmas card class (see this post). I am down to just 3 cards I've not competed yet. After this little cutie, I'll be down to 2! I adore this Lawn Fawn stamp set! So many great possibilities with the images! Heck - I'm in love with just about ALL Lawn Fawn stamps and dies!

Of all the years I've been crafting, I think this may actually been only the 2nd time I've masked off any stamped images! Okay, so 1st It I fussy cut "masks" of the trees, snowbank and fox from copy paper. I stamped the fox and hand drew the snow bank covered them with the mask. I then sponged the sky I removed my masks and colored my images. The little cardinal is raised up with a little foam tape.

I used SU pattern paper, Joann cardstock & colored on Neenah white cardstock. The inks are SU & Memento. I added the little snowball bling and the banner is punched on the ends using my envelope punch board and I inked it all up with my Copics! I liked making this card and will certainly do more masking and scene creating in the future!

Ho Ho Ho, who's been on a Ro(ll)

Ok, that's probably the dumbest rhyme I've ever said! Please forgive me the cheesiness.

But, I have been on a roll today! Getting caught up with Justine Hovey's Christmas Card Tutorials 2015. I was way behind I'm sorry to say. So far it's been a blast. Revisiting techniques I needed a brush up on and learning new ones. You should give it a try! The price is VERY reasonable and you don't need to be worried about starting in a wee bit late, she'll get you all caught up in no time! Hope over to her blog to check out all the details and then I'll see you there!

One of the new to me techniques was using texture paste with a stencil! I decided to make my own texture paste and it turned out GREAT! I started with 1/4 cup baby powder, 1 Tbs white acrylic paint and 1 Tbs of old fashion white school glue. I stirred until it was mixed. I did end up adding a bit more of everything to reach a texture I was happy with. You can eyeball and add as you see fit as well. Store in an air tight container and I've read it should last you about 8-10 months! I made mine for pennies on the dollar! And it has a nice light baby scent to it! =)

Here are the cards I worked on today:

Masking and sponging a sky. The cardinal is mounted with a bit of foam tape. Copics were used to color the trees and little bird.

Love this card - I used kraft cardstock. I love how this image feels so vintage!

Here's the texture paste card! It's hard to tell, but it's at the bottom. It looks as good as it smells. LOL

Here's my little window scene. I had the window mounted onto a white card base and didn't like it as well as I like Justine's window card. Maybe my window's smaller than hers, dunno. But when I put it onto the dark gray, I thought is was better.

I also want to note her that I was a real dope and put ALL my distress inks into a yard sale about 3 yrs ago (don't ask, I don't know why!) So, after some searching I found a list of Stampin Up inks and the their Distress Ink counterparts! For the most part the ink works well. I do have some Distress markers and they are better made for blending and when working with water - BUT the SU works well enough for me right now. Until I find some dope selling their inks at a yard sale! Doohhhh!!

I loved how they all turned out and these are just 4 of the 40+ cards we will be making with Justine Hovey's PDF's and member's only YouTube video tutorials! You really should go check it out. You can always use more holiday cards and they will all be finished before it's too late.

Betty Crocker never cooked like this....

Hi, been busy in my craft room and kitchen today. Making DT projects and baking my own enamel dots!  If you try this, I promise you will become addicted. I've baked these before but this time I took a few pics to share with you guys. These are the pony beads from Joann's. I got the multi packs of shimmer and plain. I looove the shimmery ones best.  Here they are before:

May sure you use parchment paper on your pan. Space them out a bit and bake. I've baked mine at 375  for 24 mins AND at 425 for about 18 mins. Of course your stove may be different form mine so just keep an eye on them. The longer you bake them, the more they spread. Easy Peasy lemon Squeezy! Here they are fresh outta the "ur-vin":

I did try those perler beads and had zero luck, think I may try them again cuz we have like a hundred gazillion or so. With each batch I bake, the smell bothers me more. So, be warned, the smell can be strong, I mean it's plastic so go "'figg-ger", huh?

I'll let you know what else I bake and it's worth trying. Gonna look at the stores this weekend to melt more goodies I hope. I've always wanted to bake ribbon to make curly q's - maybe I'll try that this weekend too!

Yesterday I made this cute little basket:

It uses one sheet of 6x6 and you waste nothing. Here's a link to the tute: Bibi Cameron . I adore her accent and could listen to her all day.  She has two vids to show you three different sizes. Easy and fun. I could see these being addictive too! I used some cute (& free) paper that was sent to me in my Lawn Fawn order. Super cute and great quality. Okay, off to put my new enamel dots into their storage container.

Stars, stripes and flaming fire fun!

Hi again guys!

Thanks for stopping by today to check out the latest challenge over at Cut It Up. Our challenge this week is for you to create a summer type project using a die cut and stars and stripes. You have to go over and check out the other DT designs, for some amazing inspiration. For my project I decided to use my Cricut to cut luminaires and rosettes. I uses paper from my stash and the candles I made.

I have to be honest with you guys, I'm glad my hubby was home when I took this picture and here's why: the bamboo skewer for the tallest rosette caught fire! And the entire project is made of paper! Yup! See yesterday I hand poured new candles cuz I just knew flameless candles wouldn't be bright enough. Maybe not, but they sure would've been a whole bunch safer!! LOL

Our super sponsor for this "hot" new challenge is - As Cute As A Button - they have generously provided a $20.00 gift certificate for the winner!! Crazy good right?! Okay, so now it's your turn! Head over to Cut It Up and give this challenge a go, have fun but leave the fire work to the professionals!

Kitty Bee & Lychee the Lion....

Hi everyone!

Glad you stopped in to see what I created for my very 1st DT spotlight with Kitty Bee Designs to hopefully inspire you for this week's challenge. I decided to try a "new to me" card, a T-slide card. It took me a bit, but I think is was so worth it. I used the tutorial over at Splitcoast.

I used the Lychee Lion digi from KBD. He's so dang adorable! Fell in love with him immediately! I used my Copics to ink him up. I used Neenah for the 4.5" x 4.5" card." The purple CS is from Stampin Up and the pattern paper is from the 6x6 pad "the Kidlet" by DCWV. I used Scor-Pal tape to hold it all together. The best tape ever I must say!

I am so very happy to be one of the new additions to the Kitty Bee Designs Blog DT. Click on the link and check out the wonderful site, talented DT members, challenges and of course the adorable digital stamps offered for purchase. We'd love to see you play along with this weeks  Aloha Friday Challenge #49, create a masculine card, if you are chosen as the winner (voted on by DT) you can win a fabulous prize from Meljens Designs! Hope to see you there!

It's a Gerda Steiner Challenge Kinda Day!

Oh, how wonderful it feels to be able to just sit and create a few projects of my own! I am happy to be able to create using a few wonderful Gerda Steiner Designs digis today. Such cute little images.

My 1st card I used Stampin Up Designer Series Paper. I used Neenah white CS, inked him up with my Copics.  I added some Wink of Stella and recently baked shimmer enamel dots! Yeeeesss, I purchased shimmer pony beads at Hobby Lobby for 40% off, brought them home and baked them in my oven at 375 for about 12-16 min! Wonderful!! I had tried perler beads and had little luck. So happy now I can baked whatever color I need to have! Yeppie and they are a fraction of the price! Makes me wanna see what else I can bake! lol

The bases for this little guy again I used Neenah white CS, my Copics and Simon Says Card Stock. The rolling hills are Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside dies. I sponged the sky with Stampin Up inks and stamped my Penny Black sentiment in VersaFine black ink.  I added my very own enamel dots and a little  Wink of Stella.

And last but not least, my little cheesy bunny. After I colored my bunny I used my Copic colorless blender to give him his little dots on his fur. I used Neenah white CS, my Copics and Simon Says Card Stock. The pattern paper is from the Bo Bunny 6x6 Garden Journal pattern paper pad. I added a bit of Stardust to the camera lens and view finder.

Feels good to participate in a challenge of two or my own ~

Over-Achiver? Maybe...

Howdy you guys!

I've been busy getting my feet under me lately but I feel I'm finally there. Working with three great Design Teams is all new to me and since I'm a really huge over achiever, I felt like once I was presented with an assignment list and correlating goodies I had to create ALL of my assignments for the entire 6 months! Yeah, I know. I just wanted to do a really good job and show my appreciation to the people that believed in me enough to offer me my very 1st ever posts to wonderful teams!

So, needless to say - I have been creating and finishing all kinds of great and wonderful projects that I just can't share with you guys - yet. So, subscribe, if you haven't already, and you will see all of the projects and hear all about the wonderful challenges, prizes and products I've been lucky enough to be playing with these past several weeks.

I'm feeling like I can get back to a few challenges and creations of my own for sharing now. Check back tomorrow and I'll have a little sumpin to post! But for now, this sweet little kitty is my Charlie. He's not related to Little Momma but they came together and adopted us while we were living in North Carolina for a year.

Thanks for stopping by!
Smiles & Hugs!
