Ho Ho Ho - Merry Christmas!

Hello Friends!

Today is a very exciting day as my fellow Design Team Members from The Robin's Nest and I are linking up with the talented designers from The Designer Crafts Connection!!  We are working with a wonderful manufacturer, Smoothfoam!

You have just got to pop over to The Designer Crafts Connection to check out all the exciting ways you can use the Smoothfoam products for your crafty projects! We are looking toward the upcoming holidays and decided our theme is: Christmas! It's never too early to get some get ideas for the season. Here's a look at my completed project:

Here's a list of the festive Robin's Nest products I used:
Cindy Lou Swirl Glitter Cardstock
Red Snowflake Cardstock
Forest Trees Specialty Paper
Velvet Ribbon
Adhesive Metal Paper
Smoothfoam

Here are the two Smoothfoam shapes I started with. The versatile rectangle and the 4" ball in the background.

I searched the internet to find just the  perfect letter outlines and then, I asked dear hubby to cut out the letters I traced onto the Smoothfoam rectangle. At the same time, I cut the letters from Cindy Lou Swirl Glitter Cardstock and the Red Snowflake Cardstock.

Once hubby had the letters ready, I painted them black with simple acrylic paint. You can see the cardstock letters on the table too. I made sure to run a black Copic marker around the edge of the two letters to keep any white from showing.

While the paint was drying, I covered a small cardboard box with the reverse side of the Forest Trees Specialty Paper. I used an all purpose glue to adhere the decorative cardstock letters to the foam. I also used a spray adhesive to adhere super fine red glitter to the Smoothfoam ball. I used a skewer to hold the ball, making it easier to manipulate during the process.

After everything had dried and was ready, I added the velvet ribbon round the "belly" of Santa (the Smoothfoam ball) using dress maker pins to keep it in place. I used the same skewer to set it into the paper covered box. I added the two letters on each side, using the same skewer method. And it was ready to display on my mantel!

This project was really rather easy. I found working with the Smoothfoam to be fun and very forgiving! I hope you will try using these products and maybe some of the ideas you will see when you hop on over to The Designer Crafts Connection!!  I'm sure you will find something to get you in the mood for the holidays!

Here's another look at the festive Robin's Nest products I used:
Cindy Lou Swirl Glitter Cardstock
Red Snowflake Cardstock
Forest Trees Specialty Paper
Velvet Ribbon
Adhesive Metal Paper
Smoothfoam

I really appreciate you taking time out of your day to stop in and read all about my project! I hope to see you again in the future over at The Robin's Nest and later today over on  The Designer Crafts Connection!!

Thanks again for stopping by!

One more little card....

Ha - 3rd posting for today - scroll down for the Cut It Up Challenge!

Hello again -

I spent most of the day yesterday reorganizing my little crafting area. And changing the way I handle/store some of my supplies. Wow Oh Wow! It has made a HUGE diff! Anyway, I felt like making one more card for the day...

Rather soft and pastel-y, but I like this little Bugaboo image. I'm planning on hooking up for The {PIN}spirational Challenge and Retro Sketches. Enjoy your Friday night guys!

It's a Pear-fect Friday!

2nd post for today - see next entry for the new Cut It Up Challenge with links!

As I sit here eating my nana sam-ich I am missing my daughter something fierce! I decided to make her a card today, and link it up with the Friday with Flair over at Unity Stamp Co blog. I pulled out this adorable Unity stamp set to make this card:

I will plop this little card in the mail today! I used all scrap cardstock for this project with some retired SU twine and ribbon. I inked it up with my Copics. Have a super day my friends!

Word Up!

LOL - okay, I'm sure I just showed my age, huh?? Yeah, the 90's was my twenty something years, graduated high school in 1986. So, I lived the "word" and now so can you!! Yep - it's challenge time with Cut It Up! And you guessed it - you must use a die cut and have a word or words as the focus of your card. So, pull out those "words" and give it a go!  Here's my "go" at it.

I used my stacking Spellbinders dies to create the window and then I double die cut the hello using my Lawn Fawn Scripty Hello die. I used Simon Says Stamp CS, Stampin Up inks and hand punch to create the little stacked flower embellies.

When you play along, you could be chosen to win the wonderful prize of a $20.00 gift certificate from As Cute As A Button!! What a wonderfully awesome sponsor prize!! So, head on over to Cut It Up and check out all the details and get busy! See 'ya there....

Sketch this!

There's a new Christmas card challenge at 'Tis The Season!  We have a wonderful sketch for you today. Remember as you create your challenge card that this challenge is only open thru July 21st. Plenty of time really, just keep it in mind.

When I was working with this sketch I decided to make two cards. Mostly cuz  I cut the patterned paper in half - BAM - two cards! I kept one closer to the sketch, adding only one extra elements. The 1st card below,  I exercised my artistic license and added a bunch of different elements.

Here's # 1:

Here's #2:

So far Wild Man and I like the 1st card best and Hubby likes the bottom card. I'm lucky to have these two men in my life. Now that my daughters living with friends at the beach for the summer, they've had to step up to the plate and help me vote on what's better for my creations. I love this little foxy boy! The stamp set is from Lawn Fan, the papers are SU and I colored with my Copics. Hurry and head over to  'Tis The Season and I'll see you there!

A little me time...

Hello again friends!

This morning I got up way before Wildman with a project on my mind. I wanted to participate in the new July challenge over at the ColourArte Monthly Challenge Blog. Here is the clue below:

We were asked to create a project using these primary colors. The only other rule is the project must feature ColourArte Products. That's pretty simple as I love all the goodness! Here's my project:

It's been a long time since I created a tag - I use to host monthly themed tag swaps! So, I took a queue from the recent Tim Holtz Monthly 2015 Tags, but used my own stamps, ColourArte Twinkling H2O's, Bazzill CS and Strathmore water color paper. I stamped my images in VersaFine so the ink wouldn't bleed when it got wet. I water colored with the "twinks" adding a bit of dimension with my Distress Inks markers. I added more water to my mat with the "twinks" to create my little flicked splatters of color - love me some splatters!

I cleaned up all the ink using my Seam binding ribbons in turn giving them just the right colors I needed. I also strung my sweet little charm with matching beads and added this to the bow as I tied it to the tag. The "laugh" side cut actually has 3 stacked and glued together for bolder dimension and I gave it a bit of ink too.

That's it - another sweet little project. I really like it and will try to make an art journal page that resembles it this weekend.

Getting ready for 50!

Not me, at least not yet - my hubby is turning 50 next week! I've created a cute little card today just for him. Now, I must give credit where credit is due. I totally CASE'd Chari Moss from Mossy Made. She is a very talented DT member over at Lawn Fawn - love those stamps!! So go give here some lovin too!

I know I'll end up creating more birthday cards for my hubby, I'll probably even forget some (bad memory) so, I figure the more I make, I'll end up with at least one or two to give him! lol

I used two Lawn Fawn stamp sets. I colored them with my Copics and used Neenah CS and pattern paper from Studio Calico. I used my SU inks & scallop tag punch. I hand cut the banner tags. Put it all together with some foam tape and tape runner with a bit of Lawn Fawn twine. That's it, easy peasy!

Twinkling Friendships

Hello my friends ~

I've been trying some new things lately and I just have to share with you! AND I would like to share the company were I purchased all the special paints from: ColourArte

It's a Fab-U-Kitty company with wonderful products to use with all your crafting projects! So, on to my card ~

Ooooo, isn't it pretty?? I have been a long admirer of art journals and the beautiful creativity that are contained within. This card is a foot in the door using ColourArts Twinkling H2O's. They are gorgeous hardpan watercolors with intense color and a brilliant shimmer.

Here are mine. To use them you will need to spritz them with water and let them sit for 4 or so min. You can also spritz a bit of water on a sheet of acetate to aid in mixing and painting, which is what I do. Oh, make sure you let them dry completely before closing them back up or they could seal themselves shut as they dry. I chose to use paint brushes as opposed to "water brush pens". I stamped my image (retired Stampin Up set) onto water color paper using Memento Ink. Be sure you let it dry totally or you could have bleeding as you wet the paper.

Then you have all the fun in the world painting like normal. I used colors from two separate kits: Winter Fire and Sugar & Spice. I used Blue Ice to paint an all over sky background. I then used Golden Opel to paint the watering pitcher and shovel tip. I just used the same color with less water to make the darker parts of the watering pitcher. I painted the two pots with a mix of Blue Ice and Periwinkle, again using less water to make the darker shadows. I decided to make my little flowers pink using Cherry Sorbet (yummy color!) I decided the little green "flowers" at the bottom were shamrocks and I used a mix of Sea Glass and Sage to paint them. Now I decided to use my Distress Markers to color the grass stems and the handle of the garden spade, using frayed burlap, shabby shutters, bundled sage with a pinch of pumice stone. I painted the dirt by mixing Sage and Golden Opal.

I tried several times to show you the insane shimmer and my camera just couldn't pick it up without a crazy blur of the card itself. I had a blast working with ColourArts Twinkling H2O's and I know I will continue to use them and learning new techniques too! I think I would like to try these beautiful colors and the Northern Lights technique on my next Christmas card! Make sure you check out these beautiful special water colors and all the other wonderful products at ColourArts site ~ OH ~ they even have a monthly challenge on their blog!

Mele Kalikimaka!

I'm here today to share with you my July DT Spotlight at Kitty Bee Designs. Since this challenge period is Christmas in July, I chose this adorable little KBD digi called Kawaii "Santa" Owl.

I used retired patterned paper from Scenic Route. Neenah white card stock. I used the following items from Simon Says Stamp: red & green cardstock, bling, scallop die, foam tape, Versa Fine Ink, Copics and Scotch tape runner. I used the Owl Builder punched (from Stampin Up) for the branch the owl is sitting on.

Just a little one

Hi guys!

Just a little, quick CAS card today. Did all my chores while hubby did the grocery shopping, I put them all away. Smoked some chicken wings for dinner and now I've got 2 loaves of nana nut bread baking. yummmm So, I only had a quick moment and a serious itch for a card!

Just a little Friends with Flair over at Unity. Geesh, I haven't played along with Unity or Verve in waaay too long! I need to etch out a bit more time to do so cuz I really love the products from both companies a whole bunch. I added my home baked enamel dots to the card, not really excited about the placement maybe, but it's okay for mailing to my baby girl in Virginia Beach. I do miss her. I used my Copic to ink up the adorable little image. I did the faux stitching myself. I would like to find a great clear stitch stamp...

So hopefully I'll be able to make a card or two tomorrow, that I can share. Being a DT member is exciting, but sometimes it's odd cuz I'm making all these great projects and I share them for weeks and even months!
